We are the region’s exclusive manufacturer’s representatives for Vari-Vac®, MEPCO and Vent-Rite®(formerly Dunham Bush Co.), the industry pioneers in the design and manufacture of steam hydronic heating systems. As well as ELGE® High Efficiency Heat Exchangers.
What We Do
G.S. Dunham combines state-of-the-art products from MEPCO, Vari-Vac®, VentRite®, and ELGE with expert service and support. As an authorized service and sales company, we thoroughly understand the inter-relatedness of engineered steam components. Our specialty is system efficiency and occupant comfort. We bring over 100 years of experience to your building. Our latest products offer web based monitoring and control, while maintaining all of the old familiar Vari-Vac® functions.

G.S. Dunham is centrally located in Western Queens to effectively serve all five boroughs and Northern New Jersey. Our facility has a full inventory of parts as well as a machine/motor shop. We offer operator instruction, available either at your site, or in our own classroom.

Our History
Founded in 1995
G.S. Dunham is a small, specialized company with over 250 years of combined product service experience. G.S. Dunham was founded in 1995 by Bill Gribbin and Joe Stropoli with a mission to provide the best steam heating solutions and services in the NYC/NJ metro area. But the G.S. Dunham story doesn’t really begin in 1995.
Where it All Began
The story of G.S. Dunham goes all the way back to 1897 when Clayton Dunham invented the first commercial thermostatic steam trap. This simple invention changed steam heating forever. From those humble beginnings grew the C.A. Dunham Company which morphed into Dunham-Bush and finally, MEPCO/VentRite. Along the way they revolutionized steam heating systems around the world.
Representing MEPCO and VentRite
Being steam heating experts themselves, Bill and Joe were well aware that MEPCO/VentRite (Dunham Bush) products were the industry standard. So when they founded G.S. Dunham, they became the exclusive manufacturer’s representatives in NYC.

Joseph Stropoli
President and Co-Founder
In 1995 Bill and Joe started GS Dunham and their teamwork has paid off.
With over forty years of experience in Low Pressure One Pipe, Two Pipe and Sub-Atmospheric steam systems, Joe knows the value of a practical, cost effective approach to what will make your system work at peak efficiency and comfort. Joe has a formal, broad technical education in Aviation Mechanics which has been an asset in the Steam Heating Business.
William Gribbin

If it is possible to be passionate about Steam Heating, that’s what Bill was. Bill had a keen instinct for customer service and he nurtured close relationships with the manufacturers we represent. These relationships give us the ability to serve our customers well today.
Mark Bloom
Vice President
Day to day operations require a watchful eye for detail and a patient approach to problem solving. Mark strives to keep Bill’s legacy for customer service alive while embracing a more modern management approach. Marks “can do” attitude keeps things running smooth.

Connor is a chip off the old block when it comes to attention to detail. He shares his Fathers appreciation for steam systems, new and old. With field service experience backed by product sales application he will get your site the right equipment for dependable, trouble free operation.

We consider Debbie a co-founder. She has been with us since 1995. Debbie is instrumental to the daily operation of GS Dunham and is known by all of our regular customers. You can always reach out to Debbie for assistance, and she may even help with your heating problem!
John Baer
Sales Manager
John has been with GS Dunham for over 25 years. Before that he worked for Pence and Beck, the previous Manufacturers’ Rep., So nobody knows the equipment line better than John. From Engineer Written specifications to simple parts sales, John will do his best to get you what you need.
Nick Benetos
Service Manager
Nick’s legacy of customer service goes back to days of field service when a satisfied customer said thank you with a smile and a handshake. As Service Manager, Nick works with our field staff to quickly provide our customers with a detailed course of action to solve your system or equipment problems. If you like, Nick can customize a yearly service contract so you can better budget operating costs associated with your buildings steam heating system.
Kenneth Stropoli

Old steam systems can be challenging. It takes ingenuity to re-design existing systems in order to improve functionality. Ken’s formal background in Modern Construction Management gives him the problem solving approach needed to do this. His understanding of the importance of building and maintaining professional relationships allows him to work well with Engineers, Building Managers and Owners to find unique solutions to any problem. He’s dedicated to providing top-notch customer service and offering support throughout the process, whatever it takes.
